Course overview
This is an introductory course in the art and science of wine and will teach the key grape varieties, different styles of wine, and the production of spirits and liqueurs.
The course will be hosted by Dr Karen Hyde AIWS (Diploma in Wine & Spirits).

Entry requirements:
Candidates must be over 18 or have obtained parental consent. This course assumes no prior wine knowledge and is perfect for 'absolute beginners'.
Optional WSET Intermediate certificate examination:
Candidates need to successfully complete a multiple choice paper of 50 questions in 60 minutes.
This qualification is accredited at Level 2 in the UK National Qualifications Framework. It is also approved as a Technical Certificate for the Advanced Level Hospitality Modern Apprenticeship. The WSET issues certificates directly to those who pass the examination.
To make a booking:
Please complete the booking form and send your deposit (or full course fee) as soon as possible.
The balance of the course fee will be payable 4 weeks before the course starts. If the booking is made within 4 weeks of the course start then payment will be required in full to guarantee your place on the course.
WineMatters policy on deposits is that if you have to withdraw, the deposit will be refunded unless you give unreasonably short notice (giving us no reasonable chance to get in anybody to take up the place) or unless the financial viability of the course is threatened. Of course, if the course has to be cancelled for any reason, the deposit will be refunded.
