WHY NOT JOIN THE RESERVE LIST FOR A SECOND COURSE NEXT YEAR...
This course builds on the knowledge and tasting skills acquired from the Introductory Wine Appreciation Course and continues with a clear focus on developing tasting technique. Students who are successful in the WSET Advanced Certificate examination (an option in week 15) will be able to describe the production methods and organoleptic characteristics of any wine or spirit. Developing effective tasting skills requires considerable practice and more than half the time will be spent tasting high-quality wines and spirits from around the world. Previous courses have included Grand Cru Burgundy and classed-growth claret.
The next course is scheduled to start MONDAY 12 JANUARY 2009 for 14 weeks from 7.15-9.15pm at Brookes University, Headington Oxford.
The course fee will be £490 to include all tastings, WineMatters materials and also, as additional information, the book pack produced by the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) for their Advanced level course.
Should you choose to sit the WSET Advanced certificate examination (currently £80 - fee subject to revision by the WSET each August) then the WSET will issue certificates to acknowledge successful completion. Students showing exceptional talent may be awarded a Distinction, and the top students are invited to a viva voce examination held annually in London. The Advanced Certificate is considerably more difficult than the Intermediate certificate and candidates are reminded that a significant amount of home study is required.
